I have received

your

communication

of Feb. 21. enclosing an extract of one from the Tartar General Paow Chang,

proposing to establish a Custom House Station on the Island of Koolongoos

the

small one to the Westward of it called "Linsea", and considering that the former

is at present temporarily occupied by British Troops, I do not think it would be desirable or proper for any Chinese Custom House officers to be

stationed there, but I see no

objection to their being placed

provided they

are warned not to interfere

with the transit of the common

Supplies for the garrison of Koolangsoo.
